William Jewell College will host two free comedy events.
“Martin and Shaw” improvisation comedy show will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 9, in Peters Theater (Brown Hall).
Natasha Martin, guest artist in residence for Jewell Theatre Company, and acting partner Cooper Shaw will perform an hour-long, devised and completely improvised live show that involves storytelling, scenes and monologues, musical theatre, avant-garde, dada and more physical forms of performance. The approach is very interactive at times as they will ask for words or themes from the audience to use as a launching pad for crafting an improvised play. No two performances are ever the same so it is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Dr. Anthony Maglione, Jewell assistant professor of music and director of choral services, is the musician for the performance.
“Shenanigans: An Evening of Comedy in Music” will be hosted by the Department of Music and includes skits and performances by Jewell opera, choirs and faculty and features TV and film personality David Gruber Allen. The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, in Gano Memorial Chapel.
