“Lenten Reflections,” a recital of solo organ music, will be presented by Dr. Ann Marie Rigler, William Jewell College associate professor of music and college organist, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 25 at Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral, 13th & Broadway in downtown Kansas City. The recital will feature works by J.S. Bach, Howells, Krapf, Kropfreiter, Mendelssohn, Martin, Matter and Vierne. There is no admission charge, and the public is invited to attend. Reservations or tickets are not required.
“The program is intended to provide an opportunity for meditation on music and readings appropriate to the season of Lent,” Dr. Rigler said. “The concert will give people a time, a place, and a musical focal point to gather their thoughts during this most introspective time in the church year.”
The concert location continues a longstanding outreach and association between the Liberty, Mo., college and Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral. The cathedral is the site of William Jewell’s annual “City Come Again” holiday service, and the Harriman-Jewell Series and Concert Choir performances are often scheduled at the downtown venue as well.
