William Jewell College’s Office of Career Services will host a free Federal Hiring Seminar from 2 to 3 p.m. January 25 in John Gano Memorial Chapel on the campus in Liberty, Mo. The seminar is open to the public, and reservations or tickets are not required. Guest speaker for the program is Teri Brooks, Human Resources Assistant for the Human Resources Consulting Program of the United States Office of Personnel Management.
“The seminar is packed with critical information and demystifies the federal hiring system,” said Judy Rychlewski, Director of Career Services at William Jewell. The seminar covers such topics as the advantages of government employment, in-demand occupations, qualifications and application procedures.
Following the seminar, a career fair with opportunities for participants to interact with potential employers will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Yates-Gill College Union Atrium. A partial list of participating employers includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Social Security Administration, Department of Justice, Jackson County Children’s Division, Internal Revenue Service and the Bureau of Prisons.
“The career fair portion of this event is an excellent opportunity for job-seekers to interact with hiring managers in the various agencies,” Rychlewski said.
The Office of Career Services is a resource at William Jewell College that helps students explore job opportunities after college. For more information about the seminar, contact Career Services at 816-415-5938.
