Jewell to present 'Glass Menagerie' Contact: Rob Eisele, 816-415-7574 January 7, 2010
William Jewell College presents Tennessee Williams’ classic play The Glass Menagerie at 7 p.m. January 29 and 30 in Peters Theater. The theater is located on the lower (theatre) level of Brown Hall on the college campus in Liberty, Mo. Tickets are $5 general admission; call 816-415-7590 for reservations or ticket information. The box office opens at 6:30 p.m. on performance nights.
The production is a senior theater project by Brian Gehrlein, a theatre education and education major from Rolla, Mo.
“Since we are in a recession, this play speaks profoundly to today’s audience,” Gehrlein said. “Tennessee Williams’ family drama stands as a true American gem about innocence lost and the consequences of escapism. What will happen when the main character gets imprisoned by family pressures? This begs the question for us: on the way out to escape, who will we hurt and who is ultimately to blame?”
William Jewell College is committed to bringing together talented students and gifted faculty mentors within a vibrant community sparked by a rigorous and intentional liberal arts curriculum. A full range of personal and professional development experiences are presented by the selective national liberal arts college’s location within the Kansas City metroplex of more than two million.
