Lecture series examines issues of Mind and Faith Contact: Rob Eisele, 816-415-7574 March 6, 2009
Elizabeth R. Hoyt, assistant professor of business administration at William Jewell College, will present a free lecture in William Jewell's "Journeys of Mind and Faith" series at 7:30 p.m. March 31 in Room 221 of the Yates-Gill College Union on the campus in Liberty, Mo. The public is invited to attend, and no tickets or reservations are required. The lecture is titled, "A Religious Outsider’s Journey of Mind and Faith."
Dr. Hoyt says, "I have always envied those people with clear, certain answers to life's big questions. My journey as a person of faith and as a business person often has been characterized by more questions than answers. This presentation will examine several of those questions, including that of how faith and vocation connect."
"Journeys of Mind and Faith" series explores the tension often inherent in addressing questions of faith and intellect.
"William Jewell has at its disposal the uncommonly conjoined resources of intellectual inquiry and faith," says series coordinator Dr. Milton Horne. "This series takes advantage of those resources to present to the community the stories of individuals whose Christian and intellectual journeys, while not yet complete, have been rewarding and worthwhile."
William Jewell College is committed to bringing together talented students and gifted faculty mentors within a vibrant community sparked by a rigorous and intentional liberal arts curriculum. A full range of personal and professional development experiences are presented by the selective national liberal arts college's location within the Kansas City metroplex of 1.5 million.
