Economist Mark Anielski will deliver the annual Binns Lecture on the Sacred & Secular and Power & Justice in Society at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, in Yates-Gill College Union 221-222 on the campus of William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. The free lecture is open to the public.
Anielski is an economist specializing in measuring well-being and happiness of communities and organizations. As co-founder and partner of Genuine Wealth, Inc. and the Genuine Wealth Institute, he works to design, build and operate new economies of well-being based on his Genuine Wealth model. He has advised governments and businesses in Canada, the United States, China, the Netherlands, Austria and Tahiti, helping them measure and optimize their well-being.
Anielski, who resides in Alberta, Canada with his wife and two daughters, authored the award-winning book, The Economics of Happiness: Building Genuine Wealth. Alberta Venture magazine named him as one of Alberta’s 50 most influential people of 2008.
Jewell’s Binns lecture is named for Dr. Walter Pope Binns, who served as president of the College from 1943 to 1962. A pastor, writer, counselor and educator, his legacy remains a testament to the compatibility of intellectual curiosity and uncompromising Christian commitment.
