Schaefer, Rigler to perform faculty recital at Jewell Contact: Rob Eisele, 816-415-7574 August 24, 2007
Phillip Schaefer, assistant professor of music, and Ann Marie Rigler, associate professor of music and college organist, will perform in a Faculty Artist series recital at 3 p.m. September 9 in John Gano Memorial Chapel on the William Jewell College campus in Liberty, Mo. The concert is free and open to the public, but donations to the department’s scholarship fund will be accepted.
The program will include the “Giambattista Martini Toccata,” “The Hollow Men,” by Vincent Persichetti, Henri Tomasi’s “Variations Gregoriennes” and an arrangement for trumpet and organ of “My Spirit Be Joyful” from the J.S. Bach Cantata No. 146. Rigler will perform a solo presentation of John Knowles Paine’s “Concert Variations on an Austrian Hymn, Op. 3/1.”
Schaefer, who plays the trumpet, received his B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa and his M.S. from the University of Illinois. He joined the William Jewell faculty in 1976. Rigler, who received a B.Mus. from Southern Methodist University; an M.S. and M.M. from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign; and a D.M.A. from the University of Iowa, joined the Jewell faculty in 2004.
