The High School Legacy Leadership Institute is a new program run under the umbrella of The Fred and Shirley Pryor Center for Leadership Development at William Jewell College. The High School Legacy Leadership Institute is a very dynamic leadership program focused around the central pillars of personal development in the areas of self-confidence, leadership competence, commitment to the common good, and care for others.
The Institute has two components, the Summer Leadership Summit followed by the Post-Summit experience throughout the fall semester. The High School Legacy Leadership Summit is a weeklong residential experience during the summer at William Jewell College that uses traditional and experiential learning techniques to foster personal leadership development. Students will hear distinguished guest speakers, participate in leadership simulations, challenge themselves through numerous outdoor experiences (i.e. the Tucker Leadership Lab and sailing with Lake Jacomo Sailing Club), set personal leadership development goals, and develop shared community.
The Post-Summit experience includes regular meetings with a designated professional mentor, a daylong job shadowing opportunity, implementation of an individual service project by each student, and a concluding banquet at which students who have completed all aspects of the Institute will receive certification and a $1,000 academic scholarship to William Jewell College.
