William Jewell College has planned an array of activities for this year’s Homecoming celebration, which runs from Thursday, October 9 through Saturday, October 11. Below is a list of weekend events:
Thursday, October 9:
5 to 10 p.m.: Golden Reunion Celebration dinner, Yates-Gill College Union. All “golden classes” (alumni who graduated in 1958 or before) are invited to return to campus and celebrate their significant milestones. The classes of 1938, 1948 and 1958 will be honored during a medallion ceremony.
Friday, October 10:
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament, Claycrest Golf Club, Liberty, Mo.
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Golden Reunion Celebration Day on the Hill, Yates-Gill College Union. Open to all golden classes; participants will spend a day on campus rekindling old friendships, gathering for receptions, learning about the William Jewell of today from current students, and re-discovering the history and beauty of Jewell’s campus through an in-depth tour.
5:30 p.m.: Women’s soccer game vs. Benedictine, Greene Stadium.
7 p.m.: Class Reunion Bash, Shoal Creek golf course clubhouse, Kansas City, Mo. William Jewell alumni in the classes of 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2003are invited to gather at the clubhouse to celebrate their milestone reunions.
7:30 p.m.: Men’s soccer game vs. Benedictine, Greene Stadium.
Saturday, October 11:
10 a.m. to noon: A Walk Down Memory Lane, Yates-Gill College Union. A special room in the union will be filled with old yearbooks and photos from the archives; Mortar Board Reunion
10:30 a.m. to noon: Homecoming brunch, Yates-Gill College Union dining hall.
Noon: Homecoming football game vs. Baker University, Greene Stadium.
3 to 5 p.m.: Pryor Fellow and American Humanics Alumni Reunion, Fred and Shirley Pryor Center for Leadership Development, Liberty, Mo.
5:30 p.m.: Homecoming dinner, Hyatt Regency Crown Center, Kansas City, Mo.
The following events will take place at the Hyatt:
• Athletic Hall of Fame Forum, 5 to 6:30 p.m. Inductees are Tom Durnin ’68, football; Terri Watson Godsey ’84, basketball; Dick Michael ’69, baseball; Kim Rivers ’88, basketball; members of the 1957 men’s basketball team.
• Golden Reunion Celebration Reception, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
• General Alumni Reception, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
• Dinner, 7 p.m.
• Alumni Awards Presentation, featuring honorary alumni Dub and Joy Steincross; Young Distinguished Alumni Service Award recipients Chad Wright ’94 and Chad Jones ’98; Distinguished Alumni Service Award recipients Bob ’67 and Cheryl Dunlop Steinkamp’67; and the John F. Truex Lifetime Alumni Service Award recipient Jim Berry ’57.
