Jewell Concert Choir takes second in The American Prize
The William Jewell Concert Choir was awarded second place for The American Prize in Choral Performance, College/University Division for the second time in its history.
Founded in 2009, the American Prize is a series of national nonprofit competitions dedicated to promoting excellence in the arts.
Directed by Dr. Anthony Maglione, director of choral studies and assistant professor of music, the Jewell Concert Choir is an auditioned 40-voice undergraduate ensemble composed of the College’s best choral singers regardless of major. It was among just 18 programs to be named semi-finalists for the 2019 American Prize and won second place in the same category in 2015.
Both Maglione and Dr. Ian Coleman, professor of music and chair, were selected as semi-finalists in 2015 in the category of Composition, Professional Choral Division.
