Emergency Alert System Signup Procedure
William Jewell College has implemented a campus-wide Emergency Alert System that will provide instant cell phone communication to all members of the college community. All students will be automatically registered for emergency communications. The following are the notifications that Jewell is mandated to communicate via an emergency alert notification:

  • Clery reportable crimes that may pose a significant ongoing threat to any part of the institutions Clery Geography (any Jewell property and adjacent streets that border the Jewell property).
  • Any significant emergency or dangerous condition that may pose an immediate threat to the health or safety of persons on campus.

Timely Warning Notifications
The decision to issue a timely warning notice is at the discretion of the Cabinet, Director of Campus Safety or Dean of Students and may be made either independently or in coordination with each other. The determination will then be made as to the method to be used to inform the campus community. These reports may be disseminated via campus text alert system, email, posted in selected offices on campus, including Campus public areas and residence halls. The emergency or timely warning notices will only be sent if the notification falls into the category of the two bullet points listed under the Emergency Alert System Signup Procedure above.

Non-emergency Notices
Non-emergency notices will be sent by email.
