Digital Media Communication


We will challenge you to develop fundamental competence and skills in a variety of media while exploring traditional and new technology.

What will I learn?

Whether you choose digital media communication as a major or minor, you will gain an understanding of foundational principles of design including color theory, typography, layout strategies and composition. You also will use a variety of software applications for digital print media, coding, animation, audio and video. Graduates have pursued careers in graphic design, web media, illustration, historic preservation, cartooning, video and filmmaking, theater design, gallery work, art history, photography and many others.

Specialize

While the digital media communication degree develops students with a diversified set of skills, you may want to go deeper in studying for a career. You have the option to choose an area of emphasis:

  • Digital Marketing: If you choose this emphasis, you will take classes in media reporting and writing, social media and digital strategy, digital workflow and web analytics, and marketing principles.
  • Web Design UX: This emphasis requires courses in digital workflow and web analytics, programming and others.
