Information Technology

Information technology provides a foundational skillset for students who want to work with computer infrastructure, hardware and networks. Jewell information technology helps graduates go beyond the ability to manage the cloud or troubleshoot organizational infrastructure. Leveraging the power of the Core Curriculum Jewell students are empowered to think beyond what's next and find solutions to problems that don't exist yet, a powerful skill in the ever-changing global digital economy.

Why major in information technology at Jewell?

This program is intended to build off of a strong liberal arts foundation while providing students with the most relevant skills in information technology, programming and cloud management. Upon completion of this program, students will possess the following skills and capabilities:

• Successfully sit for CompTIA A+ exam
• Understand and apply all concepts tested by the CompTIA Network+ exam
• Propose and execute transformational changes to an organization’s technology systems
• Troubleshoot a wide range of organizational and individual IT problems
• Deploy, secure and manage both physical and cloud-based networks
• Execute fundamental security best practices within an organization
• Deploy, configure, secure and manage a range of operating systems
• Deploy, manage and maintain cloud resources
• Demonstrate skill in the use of PostgreSQL for database management

A Modern Approach to Learning

Information technology at Jewell mixes the best of on campus and online learning. Each term students in the program will take a mix of in person classes at the William Jewell campus in Liberty, Missouri with online coursework. The hybrid approach allows students to interact with leaders in the industry and learn from a variety of experts. The hybrid schedule also gives students more flexibility day to day helping them more easily manage practical experiences into a rigorous major.
