Experience the World

Explore the economic, political and social relationships among nations during a semester abroad

International Relations

This interdisciplinary major is supported by our excellent global studies program, offering more than 60 options for your required semester or year abroad.

What will I learn?

You will gain an understanding of the workings of other countries, analyze world affairs and political economy and examine international conflict. Consider pairing the international relations bachelor of arts with a second major in political science, economics, foreign languages, psychology, business administration, history, nonprofit leadership or Applied Critical Thought & Inquiry.

The international relations major will prepare you for careers or graduate study in areas such as international governmental affairs, international business, law, Foreign Service, conflict resolution and nongovernmental organizations.

The Department also sponsors Pi Sigma Alpha (Alpha Kappa Rho chapter), the national student honor society of the American Political Science Association. Pi Sigma Alpha is active in planning educational and social events to help political science and international relations students develop connections outside the classroom.
