Pryor Legacy Project 2024

compass with words Hillcrest Hope Since 1978Each year, the Pryor Leadership Studies program at William Jewell College selects a local nonprofit organization to complete the Pryor Legacy Project. This year we are partnering with the Hillcrest Hope Foundation to remodel two rooms. Hillcrest Hope has been serving the local Kansas City community for the past 40 years and within the last year, 46 families graduated the program after receiving the skills and support. The spaces we are focused on serve as a pantry and office space in their transitional housing facilities. The Foundation seeks to provide these families with safe, high-quality spaces to grocery shop and meet with leadership. The current pantry could use a serious facelift, we as Pryor fellows would love to give back to our community through this project but need your help.

Any donations would bring us closer to our project goal of $10,000. These donations will go towards all the supplies necessary for this project like shelving, flooring, paint, furniture, etc. and any excess funds will be donated to the Hillcrest Hope organization. We are eager to see this project succeed, and we would love for you to share in our excitement!

As a gesture of gratitude, we are happy to acknowledge any donations made (monetary or supply) at Hillcrest Hope’s annual organization gala. This event regularly draws 400+ community members and is a great opportunity to learn more about those who support nonprofit work.

Shaffstall Scholarship

In addition, we would like to honor our former Pryor director, Kevin Shaffstall, for his long dedication and commitment to this program. Our Pryor Legacy Class would like to start a scholarship in his name to continue his legacy for future Pryor classes. This would be a needs-based scholarship to help with the costs of Outward Bound and any other potential costs during their time in Pryor.
