Alex Von Schulze, Ph.D.

Dr. Alex Von Schulze is an Assistant Professor of Biology  at William Jewell College. He earned his B.S. in Biomedical Science from Northern Arizona University (2011), an M.S. in Health Science Studies from the University of Memphis (2016), and a Ph.D. in Molecular and Integrative Physiology from the University of Kansas Medical Center (2020). Dr. Von Schulze obtained an F32 award from the National Institute of Aging and conducted five years of postdoctoral research at the Stowers Institute of Medical Research (2026). At Jewell, he teaches Cellular and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Exercise Science, and other core biology courses. Dr. Von Schulze’s research focuses on the fundamental question of how organisms age. Specifically, focusing on the irreversible molecular changes that result in cellular senescence, metabolic decay, and proteome collapse. Dr. Von Schulze loves to teach and mentor the future generation of scientists and medical professionals.
