Money Magazine named Jewell to its “Best Colleges in America 2023” list. Money reviewed more than 2,400 four-year public and private nonprofit colleges and then narrowed the list to 736 schools based on those with more than 500 students that were not in financial distress and had graduation rates above the median.
The Best Colleges were assigned a rating out of 5 stars and Jewell received a 4.5 star rating based on quality (30%), affordability (40%) and outcomes (30%).
U.S. News & World Report placed Jewell No. 6 for Best Regional Colleges in the Midwest in its 2022-2023 Best Colleges rankings. The College also tied for No. 9 in the Midwest for Best Undergraduate Teaching and ranked No. 22 in the Best Value Schools category based on academic quality alongside the net cost of attendance.
The Princeton Review placed Jewell on its 2024 list of The Best 389 Colleges. Only 15% of the country’s four-year schools earn this distinction. In addition, Jewell was among the 209 Best Value Colleges for stellar academics, affordability, and strong career prospects for graduates, and was named a Best Midwest College.
Jewell was named No. 3 out of the top 244 Bachelors Colleges by Washington Monthly for overall contributions to the public good.
Jewell also ranked No. 2 for Peace Corps service, No. 3 for spending on student and faculty research, No. 3 for graduates who go on to earn a Ph.D., No. 5 for community and national service and No. 18 for graduate earnings.

As noted in our 2024 executive summary, our placement rate continues to be excellent, with 99.3%. A majority of graduates (70%) are employed full time within six months of graduation and 30% are enrolled in graduate school.
Our graduates’ job satisfaction is 88%. Graduates’ perception that their job relates to their academic major continues to be high at 79%, and students in graduate programs had a 100% satisfaction rate for the third year in a row.
Additionally, graduates continue to report preparedness for critical thinking and problem solving: in 2024, 94% report that their jobs require them to use specific critical thinking skills (whose job was their primary career outcome), and 92% reported being “very prepared” or “prepared” to perform the critical thinking required for their jobs.
