While Jewell is not a religiously affiliated college, we embrace the growth of the spiritual life of our students. We carry out that exploration and growth through our Center for Faith and Culture, our Flourishing Fellows Program, our core curriculum and our campus ministries.
Aspects of Spiritual Life at Jewell
The Center for Faith and Culture is committed to reinvigorating student spiritual exploration at William Jewell College. In partnership with the College Chaplain, the Center created a new Student Flourishing Fellows Program. The goal for this Fellows Program is to challenge students to examine what a life of flourishing might look like in relationship to their major, their profession and their life’s vocation.
Personal Flourishing classes focus on faith as it relates to literature, science, politics, the arts, music, health, finance, biblical studies and more. Courses are taught by Jewell faculty and local pastors on campus and at local partner congregations, with a few virtual offerings.
We believe that supporting our student body with a campus ministry in Missouri is key to encouraging spiritual growth.
In the classroom, the Sacred and Secular level of the core curriculum and associated capstone courses help students consider the implications of faith in their own lives and explore the impact of religion on the world.
