Jeanine Hastings, Ph.D.

Jeanine Haistings is a Professor of Education and an elementary mathematics education specialist dedicated to preparing future teachers. Her work focuses on helping preservice teachers develop strong mathematical content knowledge and practical, research-based strategies for making mathematics engaging and meaningful for students.

Her research interests include facilitating the connection between abstract math and concrete experience, real-world connections that can deepen mathematical learning, preservice teacher math anxiety, and interdisciplinary techniques of teaching.

Dr. Haistings received her doctorate from the University of Kansas. After graduating from Jewell with a B.S. in Elementary Education/Middle School Mathematics in 1992, she taught in elementary and middle schools for a number of years during which she also earned her M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Elementary Mathematics Education and Educational Technology from the University of Memphis. Dr. Haistings is a member, presenter, and author for several professional organizations such as the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
