Biography
Professor Renee Harper serves as Lab Manager and Instructor of Biology for the Division of Behavioral, Natural and Health Sciences at William Jewell College. She earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Missouri–Columbia in 1995 and is currently pursuing an M.S.Ed. through William Jewell College. Following her graduation from Mizzou, Professor Harper conducted microbiology research in a pharmaceutical laboratory before returning to academic research at the University of Missouri–Columbia. Over the next nine years, she designed and implemented experiments investigating the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying plant responses to light. Professor Harper joined William Jewell College in 2008, where she teaches a variety of laboratory courses within the biology program. Professor Harper loves working with students in and out of the lab, and she was selected as the recipient of the Award for Staff Excellence at the college for the 2025-2026 academic year. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children, along with the many animals on their hobby farm in Liberty, Missouri.
